Hi guys,

Posted this in Classifieds but no feedback:

Friend needs a crankshaft for a Perkins 4cyl diesel, crank # 31315980, another number's weird, looks like 2844Z3-UGSE, both numbers located on same crank. It's for a little Bobcat engine, 1985 model 943 Bobcat.

We're in n So Cal. Anybody got any ideas where to find such a critter? Nothing much around here for diesel parts. THANKS!

JimmieD

there is a perkins "dealer" close to me that may have that part i could get you their number if you want but it would be a lot for shipping probably, fla-so cal.

Thanks, Big Orange!

We located the crank new and fairly close by but it's $900, then add for gasket$, ring$ and bearing$ and whatnot... Hoping for some kind of cheaper alternative. We're in Califconfusion so shipping would be steep I'm sure. Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it!

Soo... I'll assume that the UGSE on the part number stands for "U-Gonna-Squeal Expensive"?

LOL yeah, Machman, maybe it should be, BOS-HCD, "Bend over sucker, here comes daddy..."

DEZEL INGEN, I'm going to town tomorrow, hopefully get those numbers then. Right now all I know is it's an '85 Bobcat Model 943. If he's home I'll get the rest, thanks!

Massey Ferguson put a 4cyl in the 180 tractor back in the 70's. My dad has a spare engine from one of those for a project he started and never finished. If you wanted to do the research to see if it would match, I would see if he wants to get rid of it.

Thanks, Turbo, I'll see what we can find out on that.

Okay, just let me know. I can't make any guarantees he will sell it, but I will definately ask if it fits your application. My dad is a bit of a junk collector :D

Ah, so it's in the genes huh? Fine family tradition there and so far it works for me. Gets a little hectic when I have to move, though not planning to do that again....

Of course not, I dont collect junk. The 87 GMC, 83 S-10, 57 Chevy, 49 Farmall, 63 Farmall, and 63 Nova sitting around my house are all fine peices of equipment....some of which just dont run at the moment:D.
Only my wife would refer to them as junk....:grinpimp:

Ahhh, yes, I remember it well, when wifey said, "Either all this junk goes or I do." She had blonde hair as I recall, it's been so long though, I'm not sure anymore... :)
