1994 Dodge Dakota Ext Cab 4x4. 4BTA, built 47RH, Billet Converter, Shift Kit, Hi-Perf clutches/bands. Pump's been turned up, DDP 70lt/min injectors, HE341 over an HX52, 3200 RPM Gov spring, throttle linkage mod to allow 3600rpm. 4 inch exhaust, no muffler, frenched 4 inch stack. 14.93 @ 88mph 1/4 mile and 206hp at 2700rpm and 446 ft/lbs torque at 2200rpm.

There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots

Ah yes, the Royal Enfield. Still made new in India. One of the best platforms for a diesel conversion because the trans is a separate unit. Cool looking bike!

there's a new 350cc engine that is still ohv with carburettor and 18hp, but now with an integrated gearbox...

the classic 4spd ones with separated transmission have the gears changed with the right foot, while the new 5spd is more conventional...

Hatz Diesel's were also used in some Royal Enfields.
I have seen videos of them on youtube. They appear to be 10-15hp

Some motorcycle with a Hatz Diesel on it:

Believe it or not, I have two of these. I have a 2007 Classic and a 2006 Electra for the Mrs. Both are 5-speed bikes.

I would really like to set one of them up like this:

so much better than royal enfield's original 6hp 350cc diesel engine... this engine seems to be something like the olds diesels would represent for bikes...

This is one of my favorite diesel bikes on YouTube. Its a chopper, but has a 3 cyl Yanmar Diesel that was highly modified with a turbo, really seems like it has good throttle response. I didn't post all his video's, but there are a few of him riding it and it scoots really good. I really like this little Yanmar motor, seems like it'd be a good donor for smaller cars being as it only has 1000 cc's.

And yeah, it has a open belt primary, crazy but its a chopper thing and not uncommon with the Harley guys. Seems to run a little rich too. Here's a drive by video:

The same engine is used in John Deere lawn mowers and gators. There's one of each here and they sound just the same apart from the turbo whistle.

Yeah, for us over here, a suzuki sprint (or geo metro same difference I think) that had the 3 cyl in it. I'm sure it'd knock down 50+ mpg all day long, probably more really.

suzuki swift... in colombia it was badged as chevrolet sprint... some months ago i saw a 4door hatchback, that i believe wasn't avaliable in the u.s., in my neighborhood... it had an automatic transmission, that is pretty rare for 1.0L engines (there's a lot of 1.0L cars in south america, specially in brazil due to fiscal benefits, but just a few models were avaliable with automatic transmission)...

about the diesel 3cyl, it could be an interesting deal to put in something like an opel corsa pickup to run on biodiesel

since i was 17 i want to make a chopper with a 3cyl engine, but not so old-school-looking... i think about something looking more sporty, but without front brake...

    something like this one

but i would want to do it with other colors such as light green metallic and some grey parts instead of the black ones...

    Default Sommer 462 Dieselmotorcycle

This is the Enfield based dieselmotorcycle you can currently buy in germany from Jochen Sommer. (motorradmanufaktur.de).
This is the 2010 Modell with a belt-drive. It uses a Hatz 1B40 air cooled single cyclinder diesel engine. It has 462cc and 11 hp.

For a classic chopper project you usualy prefer a low height for the seat. This is a bit difficult with the Enfield Bullet Frame.
A friend of mine has just converted an Enfield from 1930 and another Harley. Much better base for choppers, I think
I'll post some pictures when I get them.

oh, my fault... when i said "base" i was talking about the engine... but with the stock frame a "scrambler" would be a good deal...
