I've never seen that exact video, but I have seen that truck before. It is pretty friggin' wild. You can't really call it a Jeep, though...its really a custom tube buggy. I doubt there is one singe Jeep part on that entire truck, and it probably never HAD one single Jeep part: all custom.
Sure would hate to lose a hydraulic hose on the trail though, that's the biggest problem as I see it (well that and have to be a stick jockey maneuvering each wheel's height).
In the 4Wheel&OffRoad article done on that truck, they note that he is a retired Operating Engineer (heavy construction equipment operator): so he is used to being a stick jockey!
That's really a cool feat right there! The only thing I don't see, and what I would suspect is a really complex part of the design is how the tires steer?
In the video, at about 2 min, you can see the front tires turn and in the pictures above there is a cap over the kingpin. I'm guessing some short hydraulic ram.
imo... thatd rig would take the fun out of wheelin.. but then again.. all the new trails i could take with ease... as for callin it "tube sled" with wheels lol
