    Default cummins smoke and hard start

    Have 4b in case smokes bad while running hard to start. Injector? Worse? Have too many 4b,s and they

    are fighting me lately..

    Check the air intake system first starting at the air filter going back to the engine. Remove the mouse nest if it's in there. Turbo engine? Check the turbo for proper functioning. Turbo piping, check for a cracked connection hose or a pipe with a hole.

    color of smoke...?

    white,black or grey...and the conditions under which they appear,will help a lot for trouble shooting.
    currently modding an 86' m-1010 cucv ambulance,with factory 14-bolt/detroit in back and an open 60 in front.lifted 6 inches,running 37's on 17 x 8's.now swappimg in a mild 6bt,and an nvg-4500/np205 combo.hope to have it running by fall.

    Blue smoke and checked all the obvious things like air cleaner - non turbo motor.

    engine hours? (or miles will help)

    any blowby out the vent tube?
