I hear ya there, the weather service is claiming -30F over by my house, and I'm not gonna say they're wrong. Truck cranked hard even being plugged in for several hours before going to work.

one suggestion...install a headache rack on your deck, and support your stacks off the rack...
if you mount them to the cab,the resulting drone through the cab walls will drive you nuts.

I'm going to be mounting the stacks off of the frame via 7/16" dia round stock X fashion and then to prevent a for-aft motion I will be doing a slightly 30* from vertical dropdown bar. WIll not be attached to either the cab or the bed. (Because i wont be having a 'bed' on the truck for quite some time (which involves me buying a new house with a garage deep enough to fit the bigrig in with a bed on it. (Both width and length wise)

Default NOPE does not work for me

Seriously I think you should try all one shade of blue and do the trim a darker shade along with the grill . Keep the fenders all one colour to the hood . You will have enough black on the frame , running boards and bumpers to pull the vehicle together .

I think the same paint scheme as the engine might look nice. The blue with polished aluminum

That trim (emblems, bumpers, grill, headlight bezels, etc.) would look great chromed with the blue.

My personal preference on look would be to blast and paint all the chrome trim you can not eliminate. If you can just get rid of it, do that and weld up the holes. I also like the blue....I have a 57 chevy pickup that has all the trim and emblems removed, bumper smoothed and it is painted blue.

LOL maybe we can start a chrome fund LOL. To me old trucks like this either need chrome emblems or no emblems. I like turbo s10's idea of getting rid of all the trim you can and weld up all the holes then just paint the bare minimum. I have never really been a big fan of painting grills on these old trucks though.

The silver is an option if you can get something with UV resistance. A buddy of mine had a tractor grille silver powder coated and it looks like chrome from a distance. Cost was not too bad.

FWIW there are several processes out there now that use paint or powdercoat that give a finish very close to chrome.

Just stay away from it with chrome polish (ask me how I know ).
