Default Bread Van Alt and AC brackets?

I read somewhere about the alternator and AC brackets from the bread van with the 4bt that was originally chevy stuff being ideal for a 6bt swap into a chevy. Anyone have any experience with these? The thread that was linked was not working so I could not go and read more about it, I just saw it somewhere and thought that I could save a lot of trouble by picking up these brackets instead of having some made.

Also, if I did this, I would probably have to swap over to the cummins 8 rib pulleys. Are the bread van pulleys the proper 8 rib ones? Do they have the correct diameter on the alternator to make my stock tach correct?

Thats a good point, there probably aren't a whole lot of them with AC...let alone ones that have been parted enough for me to get the AC bracket from.

Where does the alternator bracket put the alternator on these things? It looks like the are on the right side right in the middle and would interfere with the location of my AC compressor.

I have chevy alternators on my 6BT, can't remember which ones but it is a standard cummins mount. Look at my build thread for pics.

the only factory a/c brakets that i have heard of are the ones that cummins made for kenworth on the 6bt. it puts the a/c compressor upper passenger side of the motor. I have found them a little hard to find so far but i have not been looking to hard. Initial research says that you have to buy them from kenworth. here is what i got

used on the 93-97 k-300 medium duty trucks

Default AC on a 96 Chev Pickup

I got a 6bt ac bracket to put on my 4bta, but there was interference with the passenger side engine mount. If anyone wants it I'll let it go cheap!! The Cummins mount bolts to the three bolt holes on the top front of the head and would put the R4 compressor through the hood. I ended up using two pieces of 2"X3" steel angle iron 3/16" thick to fashion an L-shaped mount. It bolts into the two threaded holes (one 8mm and one 10mm)in the front of the head, and the vertical part of the L goes down just to the outside of the identification plate.
Welded a piece of 1/2" OD tubing (1/8" wall) and hung a Seltec compressor off it with a 3/8" bolt. Used the Cummins v belt pulley and a 45" v belt.
It goes in the shop Tuesday for custom hoses and then I'll be cool - literally.

Here are some .pdf files that have a couple of options for the A/C Compressor mount. The alternator mounts just above it. It uses a 22si Delco for an alternator..

These are some great links, I need to know what compressor was used with these mounts. I know the dodge will work but only if you have the hanging oil filter. I still have the horiz. filter mount. almost all of the bases used that I know of use the SD7h15 but I need to know what the model number is.

The dodge compressor won't work on the freightliner/KW bracket. The position it mounts will cause a belt misalignment. I have tried. If you go to napa and look for the compressor from a 95 F-800 w/cummins 6bt that compressor will bolt up very nicely..

The guage line is different between the ford and dodge compressor. The pump is the same but the clutch is farther away from the front of the compressor than the dodge.
