    I've never tried the balance beads / shot / whatever, but I can say that most of the time I've had vibration with big tires it's been something warped / out of round more than simply out of balance, and usually the wheel. Most modern tire balancer machines have the capability to check wheels...

    I'll also note that when flipped to be a bottom dump, you need to trim a couple of threaded bosses off the manifold (they are not through-holes, so no worries about leaks) or they interfere with the oil cooler plate..

    We used a middle outlet manifold on the '50, but with a 90° home-made adapter to have it kick out (and to adapt from the manifold to the HE300VG turbo inlet). The combo moved the turbo forward and outward enough to where there was room for intake and exhaust plumbing, etc.

    From what I learned during a visit to Holset in Charleston a few weeks back, just about all their non-electronic (or non-variable geometry) turbos are now made in China. As long as their QA is on task, I don't have a giant problem with that.
