Looking forward to the pics when it is done. BTW I have looked at your thread and found the information very useful as I build my 84 chevy silverado. I am going with the 4L80E as well. Anyway, I appreciate the time you put into your thread, as it has assisted me greatly.

I have a harbor freight 20 ton press. I can use the old bearing to press in the new bearing. I ordered a new fan clutch and paid $40.00. Anti-seize is a good idea I use it often. I found that coating lug nuts is especially helpful as I have broken a lug or two in my time due to corrosion.

The bearing had slight end play. Probably around 1/16 inch. Not much and really moot as I purchased a new bearing when I ordered the fan clutch assembly. Just have to install. I did look at the 4bt counter part and found they have enough meat to be turned down as mentioned above. I have a...

The verdict is in. I ordered the 5.9 fan clutch/pulley assembly. I removed the 6.2 fan from from my 6.2. Engine. After the swap I found that the 6.2 fan (19.5 inch) does fit on the 5.9 clutch assembly. I was disappointed that the fan on the 5.9 clutch assembly was bend/damaged upon arrival...

Looks like a cool build. Fab skills are excellent from the pics you have posted.

That is the plan. I should have it done by this coming Saturday provided the 5.9 fan assembly shows up.

My thoughts exactly. I will reapproach it when I pull the 6.2 /700R4/ NP208C drivetrain and let the forum know if it is a match. (Might just pull the fan to test it when the eBay 5.9 assembly arrives.) Fingers crossed.

I have enjoyed this discussion. I have the 6.2 fan and it is on a clutch in my 84 Silverado. (see picture). I ordered the 5.9 eBay assembly and another bearing for the assembly as well. Looks like the fan might fit. I was wondering if I had to use the 5.9 Cummins fan, could I bend the tips...

Found this Hayden Fan Clutch at Summit Racing for $38.99. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hda-2784/applications/year/1990/engine-type/l4/engine-version/series-4b The Question is now the rotation. (The Autozone website has their fan clutch for $65.99...

Unfortunately no. I could definitely see doing it your way, but a no go. The valve covers are alike. I am still toying with the idea of making a cover and tube for the new billet tappet cover though. Just need some time off. I do like the covers as well. The manufacturer ground some of the...

I like the idea of the spectre vent. Here is my issue. I purchased valve covers that are ribbed. on top. I could use the vent but would have to have one of my valve covers machined or go back to stock.

I do like the vent holes they manufactured into the tappet cover itself. Too bad I am working this weekend. I would love to dive into the project. I am thinking about a thinner flat plate with a gasket, countersunk rear holes. Then cut a hole onto the plate and weld a piece threaded pipe...

Keating said he could send me a blank one, but that would cause another issue as I already purchased valve covers and would need a vent. I need to find a way to make what I have work. I may have to manufacture a plate that would work with my limited tools and abilities. We shall see what...

I agree. The vent plate would also have to be thinner or the base plate cut out to accept the thickness of the vent plate. The thickness of these parts do not allow the fuel filter to fit. Moreover, the vent plate would need to be countersunk to accept cap screws so they do not hit the filter...

Update: Just got off the phone with Keating machine (speaking with Keating). He is very helpful and will look at the issue. He needs to dig his 4bt out and we should regroup in approx 2 weeks to see what we can figure out. I am definitely impressed with Keating and Keating Machine.

Installed and torqued the head. Put the injection pump gear in alignment with the cam gear. One thing I didn't do was to put the piston at TDC and pushing the timing pin in before disassembly o_O. I was reading that the key-way on the injection pump gear needs to be at approx 4:30 to be at...

A bit more progress today. I painted the exhaust manifold with Rust-oleum 2000 degree paint. Not sure how it will hold up though. It looks like it will match the engine nicely.

I will wait for Keating Machine first. Second, I was already thinking about the location of the stock vent verses the vent on the Keating product. I might try to manufacture a vent that will work. I don't have the machine to cut CNC parts, but would just make a square and weld the vent that I...

Buildup Showcase Threads - All Engines, Vehicles
I was thinking along those thoughts. The plate would need to be thinner first of all. The plate that is currently on there is too thick to allow the fuel filter to be installed. The plate would need to be countersunk to prevent the screws from protruding as well. Then a welded tube running at...
