Thanks for the information. Please keep us updated. I just sent him an IM asking if he tunes the CM2150 ECM for the QSB3.3T.

Did some figuring and found that a 2003-2004 BD diesel boost fooler will work with the map/iat sensor on my motor. The boost fooler is set for 3.2 volts which is 21.2 psi. I’ll have a boost tuner setup next week. If you use this boost fooler just wire it looking at the sensor plug right to left as 1 to 4. Just flip the dodge boost fooler plug over, so A as 1 and D as 4.

Took the truck up towards Yosemite, all uphill. Ran it at 70 mph, 1900 rpm, 102 degrees outside, engine peaked at 189 deg, oil at 203 deg, trans at 149. This 1800-2000 rpm seems to be sweet spot, runs real smooth and pulls hard. The 1600 peak torque per specs is not so, it lags and really vibrates. I did redo my mounts, just left the front engine mounts and hung the rest off the trans tail housing. Just pulled the bolts at the bell housing but left the mounts in the crossmember to help keep engine from moving front to back. This has stopped the vibration considerably and has made it tolerable. Very nice to cruise now, idle is still a little rough but just throw in neutral if a long stop light in town. Only one stop light where I live so it’s not bad. We might get a second stop light at the school, so well I might need to redo mounts. Ha.

Forgot to mention I solved a electrical gremlin. My starter solenoid was picking up randomly. I had remembered that aircraft electronics need a diode installed on the solenoid to protect the electronics. Went through the aircraft spruce catalog and got a starter solenoid diode assembly, $8.50. Fixed the issue right up.

Update on boost. With boost fooler, I have been able to hit 26 psi. I have the wastegate set a 30psi with a bleeder. Ecm cuts fuel at the 26 psi point now. I can really feel the ecm pull the fuel, it’s so frustrating as there is so much potential left in this ISB. Also installed some Dynamat, I’ll install more starting this weekend when I pull ECM out. The dynamat has helped with noise in cab.

Got the ECU back in the truck from jr2185. Pulls much harder, kicks the tires loose. Can’t keep my foot out of the skinny pedal. Loving the extra rpm on the shifts. Going to look into injectors tips next. Big thank you to jr2185. Quest for more power continues.

Well my goof. My 26 psi boost issue is fixed. I set up laptop and was watching everything on insite. I noticed the AIT was going up really fast, just to hot for the setup. My Intercooler had to be helping some, then it clicked, my air filter. I have a tiny K&N filter, maybe it was choking it. Pulled filter off and AIT and EGT went way down. I am also hitting 31.4 pounds of boost now. The jr2185 tune is perfect, I recommend anyone with this engine reach out. EGT at 60 [email protected] rpm with 8 psi boost was 750. WOT I’m hitting 31.4 psi boost, EGT 1100. I have a PDD filter that I have been lazy to install, it’s on now and same numbers as no filter. I also have a PDD in cab boost tuner. I think I might be coming due for head studs and injector nozzles. EVguy has great recommendations also through his Dakota experience. I need more money, next super HX30 or compound? I’ll be following the Compound ISB170 thread. I wonder what happened to Steed.

If you can isolate your fresh air intake so it only gets cool, outside air, it will get you some free HP.

Will this setup still work with the increased air flow demand?
It should. Once I finish the air box, I will also have inlet from the wheel well also. Work is picking up so may take some time to get airbox built. Updates to come.

Looks like you have a 30" Harbor Freight bench-top brake. I bought one several years ago for $30 with a coupon. I bought it to build plenums (26 gauge sheet metal) and duct saddle taps for grilles for the heating system in my shop. I got my money's worth on that job, but haven't used it since. Did you bend that sheet metal with that brake? What gauge is it?

I used that brake for everything on this truck, the firewall and trans tunnel. I used 18 gauge steel. The airbox is .060” aluminum, bends just fine.
