I have tossing around the idea of throwing a 12v in my 1998 1500. I have acsses to a motor and transmission. What would I have to worry about? Would i have to beef up the frame and suspension, i will not be towing anything. Will it bolt up? There is a 5.2L 318 in it right now. Thank you!

I believe it's too light framed also . . Even the very 1st 1989.... But I say THEY WERE 1988'S. They we're 3/4 tons but they had a recall to add a frame stiffener to the side of the frames . Because the frames were breaking on some of the 3/4 tons ...
.. SO THERE FOUR I believe you 1500 is very weak..

LOL I have a 12V with a NV4500 in my 1997 Dodge 1500 4x4 ext cab short bed ! I shit canned the gas engine and auto trans! I used Stock front springs up front with a 2" leveling spacer! Dana 70 rear and a dana 60 up front ! I did install spin tech hubs with solid long shaft ! I have a hide a ball in the bed and tow anything that my 99 2500 dodge can handle. Over two years now with no problems, but if I had to do it all over the only thing I would do different would be to put the wider 3" springs and shackles from a 2500 dodge. The 1500 has 2 3/4 inch wide springs so I had to put air bags on the rear!
