All I need for the engine to finish buttoning it up is a new 7 plate oil cooler, oil pump, oil pan, front and rear crank seals. Then I can paint it and put it in the truck.

Hi guys, been awhile since I updated this thread. The motor is pretty much ready to drop into the truck. Unfortunetaly the truck isn't ready to receive it yet. I'll post up some more pics of the engine as soon as I get a free minute.

No changes or updates to the engine. It's still sitting on my stand wrapped up. I need to get some room back in my shop so I can bring the Dakota out of storage and get to work on my front suspension. I'll be doing a frame graft from a 2wd Dakota onto my 4x4 Dakota. Once that is done then the engine will go back in and I can finish up my wiring, plumbing and other misc things. Hoping to have it ready for the race season in may. If things go well this winter, I may make the trek to Arizona for the NHRDA season opener in March. We will see.

I hope so I've been waiting patiently.

This is a great thread! I take it this is a different dakota and 4bt than the one in your sig line? How much boost will you run? What will the comp ratio be with the modded pistons? With 4bt interest growing like it is, I would think Scat or someone would start making cranks and rods. Do the custom piston makers like Ross and Weisco make diesel pistons?

Same truck and engine as my sig. Just have a p-pump now instead of VE pump. Ross, Mahle and another company make forged pistons for the cummins engines. Only thing with forged pistons is they don't last in a daily driver application. Ring lands pound themselves out really quick. (20,000-50,000miles) I'm expecting boost to be about the same, 75ish psi. Compression should be around 16 to 1. Lots of options for rods, R&R, Carrilo, Crower, Woodruff and others. Believe it or not, the weakest link on a cummins is the block.

Hows the truck coming man?
It's really good. 90% ready to hit the track. I'm currently in Vegas with it for mopars at the strip. The attention the truck got was crazy. Really helps justify all the time I spent on it lol. We did a photo shoot with diesel world magazine Saturday night. That was really cool. The photographer wanted an action shot so I did a 3rd gear burnout past him lol. This truck has stupid power. 75psi of boost and instant tire smoke. It's crazy lol!!!
