Hi folks-
This is my first post on this forum, and I'm a novice to the swaps concept.
Sometime soon I'm hoping to install a 4BT into my 1979 International Scout. However, a few weeks before I came up with this idea, I spent about a grand rebuilding the Torqueflite 727 automatic trans that's in the Scout now.
My question is.... Could I swap in a 4BT and marry it to this trans?
Obviously I'd need the right adapter plate. Advantages would be that I'd save my investment in what is now a pretty decent trans. Also, I wouldn't have to mess around with a new/different transfer case. I'm not trying to make a rock crawler or off-road monster, actually what I want is a reliable freeway truck with good MPG. (My eyes are always open for a good deal on a 4BT... I'm still looking)
What do you all think? Can it be done?
