my ebay starter (cummins 3904466) dont fit

after reading the above cross reference sheet I bought a starter off ebay. was said to be compatible with cummins numbers 3904466 as well as 3920643. it is a 2-lug mount but bolt spacing is only 4.75 inches and my adaptor is 5" between lugs. also the hole size in the adapter is larger than the starter requires.

my adaptor is for a ford small block - a zf5 bolts up to it just fine. calling the ebay vendor produced no real satisfaction as they dont know anything about cummins/p30's and only want part numbers. when i bought my 4bt it came with no starter.

did they send me the wrong starter or is my adaptor somehow wrong? i am pretty sure the starter is wrong. anyone recomend a good starter vendor? is 5" between lug bolts right?

i was hoping to score a $100 ebay starter but its becoming a hassle. the napa deal for $199 is looking better tho.

am anxious since i really need starter to place engine in f250 bay...
