After reading posts here and other places, you just can't swap this engine in a Tacoma unless you beef up the frame and axles (dana 60 etc). Would anyone even recommended going through that much trouble for a rockcrawler?
When doing a SAS on nearly ANY Toy it is advisable to plate the frame on the outside of the rails. This also helps on the install of a steering box. doing the same to the inside of the rails while fabbing the new motor mounts. I keep hearing /reading about frame issues behind the cab though too. Because of all of the crap that needed changing on my Toy I just started with a 2wd. So NO it is no too much work for a rock crawler!
