does anyone know if i can fit a 4bd1t into a 61 willys without huge mods to the chassis body works not a big deal but i dont want to really lift the body if i dont have to and what kinda bellhousings are available for this motor

Yes, a 4BD1T will fit nicely in a Willys. The 4BTA in my wife's Willys has the crankshaft centerline about the same as factory and there's 9" between the engine and the top of the hood. I believe the 4BT is taller than a 4BD1T?

I would think that you would need stouter springs, at the very least, to accomodate the diesel.The Isuzu weighs much more than the Hurricane(?)6.I think v8 swaps are common to this model, so aftermarket springs should be readily available.Good Luck.
