Looking to find a price on an early 90's (used) Diesel 7.3 powerstroke 5 speed transmission. Would anyone know?

CORRECTION: I was informed wrong.. What i'm looking for is not a turbo

It's actually a (5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION) That was mounted to a 1993 non-turbo Diesel motor. What would be a price on this 5 speed manual transmission?

Check on http://car-part.com/ which usually give a price range based on location. Figure about 25% less on average less when buying from another individual or places like craigslist.

You didn't mention whether you need 2wd or 4wd. Either way the transmission for those engines would be a ZF S5-42 close ratio. The S5-47 didn't appear until mid 1995 I think. It is physically similar but a bit heavier in design, has different gear ratios, and doesn't provide for a mechanical speedometer. If your looking at 2wd you might run across an S5-42 from an F Super Duty (F450). This one has much lower gear ratios in the first 3 gears. It also has a parking brake hub on the rear. Of course this could be removed. I haven't seen a lot of diesel models for sale lately. Rebuilt units can be had for around $1000 plus core. Have seen a few used 2wd units around the $800 mark. 4wd units are a bit harder to find. There is a 2wd unit on ebay right now in Indiana with a starting bid of $499. Hope this helps.

Char is right on the year models and designations. Anything from a 7.3L IDI or powerstroke will bolt up since they have the same bolt pattern, even the 6.9L IDI will bolt up for the most part from what I hear all except the top 2 holes. I have seen the diesel zf5's going for around $450-$800 used around here, I can get rebuilt units from alocal shop that does great work for $1200 exchange or you can find them for around that price on ebay. It really depends on what your budget is. If its used I'd make sure I get a back story or if you could pull it off a running truck would be even better. I wouldnt pay over $600 for a good used mid 90's zf5.
