Welcome to the forum. Generally the 4bt is more than adequate for a 1/2 ton pickup. A 6bt might be cheaper, but you'll need to upgrade axles for that one so the cost may work out the same. You didn't mention any specs on your truck. Is it 2wd, 4wd, auto or manual transmission, etc? Need a bit more info to make recommendation.

I'm running a 4bt in a 77 f100 2wd, you are a little heavier then me, but not by much. I have plenty of power with a stock 105hp engine and a little bigger gov spring, not sure which as the pump rebuilder was a 3rd party and I did'nt find out. I'm running a 4 speed from the bread van, even without overdrive i'm getting 28mpg. I made my own mounts, was pretty easy.
