I am showing my ignorance, but I'll ask anyway...in the first photo of your third post, is that a cure for the "killer dowel pin" that also plagues 12V 6BTs?
Very nice build. What type of paint are you using on the block? I would like to find some of the same thick paint that Cummins used for the original paint job.
Equip. Junkie yes that is the tab method to retain the KDP.
The paint is just Rust-Oleum high heat semigloss. Says it's good up to 1200deg. Never used it before, guess I'll find out how well it works.
And yes that pic is of my cheap homemade killer dowel pin fix. I just repaired a friends truck that dropped the dowel pin and let me tell you.... you don't want it to happen to you. It's ugly.
The pistons, bearings and bottom end are aftermarket, got them from Diesel Specialists. Don't remember which brand, I want to say it was Federal Mogul but I'm not home to check. The upper gasket set is Cummins.
