I bought a 6bt tonight out of a wreck that has an Allison 1000 attached. I am wondering aboout using this tranny in a swap. Does anyone know if I could put it behind my 12 valve in my Suburban, or how to control it. The engine it is behind now is a VP44 style 24 valve. Just 17k miles on the motor and tranny. These guys had scrapped the van and the computer is gone.

Anything wrong with the 24valve engine? - if not, run it & sell your 12v. You'd need to find an engine harness though (ECM,TCM wiring etc)

There's two reasons I'd stay with the 12 valve: VP44 pump, and being a 24 valve it may be the wonderful "53" block.

No 53 block here

The casting on this block is 56. Realistically I need to sell the motor and figure out how to wire the Allison behind my 12 valve.
