I have never seen this option. Will need to look into it for sure..
The combined length of the Isuzu flywheel housing and the Roamerdrive bellhousing appears to be less than +4" more than a NV4500 bellhousing. I know the Cummins/NV4500 bellhousing in my Dodge appears longer than the Roamerdrive bellhousing.

Thank you both for taking a moment to look at it. I decided to move forward with the purchase, should be here in a few weeks.

Edit-
...I have a manual flywheel and pressure plate sitting In the shop that I won’t be using...
I'm in need of both those items, at your convenience would you PM me a price and shipping to 19956? Thank you.

The roamerdrive bellhousing mounts straight to the stock Isuzu bellhousing adapter. Looks a lot like an SAE 2 but it is Isuzu. I purchased one it has really nice machining, uses the dodge external clutch slave cylinder with a dodge clutch fork (not the cummins NV4500 sized fork but a smaller one from a Cherokee).

I had a 4B2t with an auto so we used the automatic adapter that presses into the crank shaft (where a pilot bushing would go for a manual trans) removed it and reamed it out to fit a stock dodge 12v cummins pilot bushing (15/16" If I remember correctly for a .750 bronze pilot bushing) then pressed it back in. Had to shorten the assembly in order to set it at the correct depth for the trans input shaft.

Stock isuzu 4bd1t flywheel with stock pressure plate and a clutch disc from a mid 80s ford f350 with a 460. When we rebuilt the NV4500 we changed to the dodge HD 10 spline 1 1/4" input shaft.

Clutch Master cylinder was from a late 80's f250 with a 5 speed trans. Its bore size matched the bore size from a dodge cummins with NV4500. But it was much easier to mount with a flange and bolts instead of the dodge "twist lock" style. Used earls adapters to AN4 in the slave and master cylinder to use hydraulic hose to connect them.

The motor mounts you made look really nice. I used stock isuzu mount and wish I had went with the liquid filled mounts like you did.

Thanks for posting up your experience. You posted up info that has taken me a couple weeks to come up with. (y)

I'm hoping to use Dodge slave cylinder and GM master cylinder. Using a similar recipe to join them as you did. Earls fittings and hydraulic hose between them. Thanks for pointing out the need for a smaller clutch fork, I bought one for a '96 v10 I think, I'll have to look up some images.

Yep, stock Isuzu flywheel and pressure plate. Dodge clutch disc in my case when I get there and I too will be swapping out a Dodge input shaft into a GM nv4500 in order to keep my TC. That's one of the reason I don't have this together yet, I'm saving money to buy a '96 and up nv4500. The one I had just had rebuilt was an earlier version with a different bolt pattern and different input bearing size.

Your too kind. It's not in yet. I'm hoping they're worth the effort. Do you have pictures of your rig? Would be fun to see, feel free to post up.

So you could redrill/machine the dodge bellhousing to match the old Chevy transmission. Am I looking at this right?

Joshuak, did you ever receive the PM regarding flywheel and pressure plate?
Yes, there is enough material to drill new holes in either the bellhousing or the transmission.

I'd rather get a '96+ model and use the longer dodge shaft.

I have CC k30 I'm putting together that will benefit, it's all good. Axles and frame so far.

The kit I have used all dodge parts. I have to say, as nice as that is, the dodge route seems so much simpler. Is there a reason that route isn’t taken more?
Who's adapter plate have you used?

I think Roamer drives is designed based on dodge, but can be made work with gm.

Not sourcing a new TC is a big selling point for me wanting to stay with a gm output shaft on the trany.

I think it was Dustin’s design originally. It’s just a plate and crank puck that makes the back of the Isuzu a Cummins. Then everything from the block back is stock dodge. And you can just swap the input shaft to the heavy duty Cummins/v10 input shaft and keep the rest of the NV4500 GM without a rebuild.

Gotcha, the fact that their are folks still waiting for parts Dustin may explain why that route isn't taken more.

*please let's not make this thread about IDS customer service.

The motor I bought came with an IDS plate and puck intended to mate a gm auto to the back of the 4bdt, with some machining I think the puck would accept the thicker flywheel as opposed to the flex plate and would work as well. Heck, maybe no machining is necessary and the flywheel could ride proud, IDK... So for now I'm still holding on to that adapter setup and might run it if I get another 4bd for the CC pictured earlier.

Pictures for the General...

Have you made any progress?
We changed directions on the 86 k30 and rebuilding the 6.2l but picking up a 83 c30. With my kit it looks like I will be able to use 1st gen cummins motor mounts and adapter to the original frame mounts and Isuzu motor mount perch.

parts are finally almost here and going to rip the 454 out of this thing soon

Hey! I remember you saying something about the 6.2 staying, was happy to see you update your thread with the c30. Looking forward to following along.

Have you made any progress?…[/QUOTE]

Not much, accumulated parts mostly. Along with the roamer drive bell housing, I have new pressure plate/flywheel, +96 NV4500 with dodge input/Chevy output.

I got distracted with a Suburban. Was 2wd auto, now 4wd stick shift. Looking forward to getting back on the ambulance this fall.
