I am having trouble removing the block heater. The electrical pins are rusty and I am not getting an ohms reading with the meter. I assume its dead. I tried loosening the center screw and tapping all around it, but it does not move. Does anyone know the proper way to get it out? Thanks

Two ways but let the cord attached or put a piece of wire on the terminals:

1. Using a slide hammer as a dent puller or as a seal puller. Drill a hole and screw the dent puller in the proper sized hole located off center or in a hole big enough to get the puller's foot inside and hammer it out.

2. Chisel method, not my preference. Take a chisel and drive one side into the block while trying to spin the other side out (provided you are real lucky). Sometimes it ends up in the block and you need a big pair of pliers to retrieve it.
:(
Remember to apply a good sealant to the replacement part before installing.
