scrap

I cut one up and got 900 out of it it is easiest to do with a air chisel and just shear the rivets, you will get a lot more if you seperate the extruded from the sheet alluminum.

thanks

hey, thanks for the info. how much of the body is alum? is it the entire thing, floors and everything? yeah, separating the alum from everything else would be some work- like you say, nothing the air chisel or a grinder and sawzall couldn't handle.. how long did it take you to break it down?

I have scrapped two. The yards in my area varied wildly by what they would pay. The highest paying yard said aluminum was aluminum, but had to be steel free. For steel free the first time they paid 55 cents a pound and the second 60 cents.

Ended up being about 975 the first time and 1175 the second.

Both of my vans had interior aluminum shelving.

I used a ten dollar air chisel from Harbor Freight.

I scraped mine in two halves. Paid $.65 a pound and made around $1200 bucks.
