So looks like we have an aftermarket ECU option for Common Rail. Ruud Visser at RV engineering has running models of the ISB 170 with a adaptronic ECU. Looks like I need to save some cash and get going on one of these.

It’s the adaptronic e1280 ecu. It’s not plug and play, but it’s just some simple wiring and splicing. You can email Ruud, he responds quickly. I downloaded the ecu program (Sekuku) to look at it and it’s fairly straightforward.
