Another good weekend, I finished building and loading the pistons in the liners. Installed the cam, counter shaft, oil pump, end plate, timing gears, oil pump drive gear and front cover.:) Finally starting to look like an engine again, next weekend is loading the liners.

Nice progress. When you get it done you'll have a basically brand new engine. Gaining plenty of knowledge at the same time.

Found an old 6.4 video, so I uploaded a cabin noise comparison for fun.:) Detroit was 60.5 at idle and around 75-78 at 2000 rpm.

Happy times, got the head assembled and torqued down. Injectors, lines and rack are in as well. I found a bent rack control arm that I missed before. I've straightened it now and just testing it to make sure it's free. Not far off getting it finished up.:)

Looks so much more complicated as compared to a B Cummins. Can't wait to see a first start vid!

Had a good weekend on the Detroit. Installed the rear housing, front, rear crank seals and sleeves, shimmed the governor down from 3200 to 3000 rpm. Flushed the oil cooler, oil pick up tube, washed and installed the oil pan. Next weekend it's the blower, oil cooler, Jake heads, tune up and engine start.:)

It's alive.:) Finally got it tuned up and quick test run up to check for leaks. Very happy with the results, super responsive now that I have the new cam and pistons in it. As well, I worked on the governor and fixed a few issues I noticed. Very happy indeed.:)
