Dodge Alternator charge wire fusing fussing

Sorry for a common knowledge question.
Moving battery and solenoid over to DR side, will make up a 7' 4ga charging cable from dodge alternator. Parts stores carry 14 ga fusible links which seem chinsy attached to a 4ga cable. If a 'maxi fuse' is used, should I use a 120Amp fuse to match the alternator output?
Thank you..

A fusible link and a fuse are two different items. The fusible link is supposed to be 4 numbers smaller than the wire it protects. You buy them based on amp rating. What is your alternator output? Fusible links are color coded. Blue = 100 AMP, Grey = 120 AMP, and Maroon = 140 AMP. A 4 ga wire would be protected by an 8 ga fusible link which is the largest size available. That link cannot be longer than 9 inches. Shorter is better.
