I have seen a bunch of really great swaps with the 4BT, but all that I saw used the original oil pan - some with major modifications - but retaining the wet sump. Has anyone converted a 4BT to dry sump, which I believe should make the engine over eight inches lower?

Thank you
Nigel

I would really like to see or hear about this also. Opens up a lot of
other possibilities...

this has been brought up a few times

i swear i have seen one for sale . I have seen a swivel pickup on a 4 bt in a tractor . This would be the way to go in a 4x4 that may be climbing the odd long steep grade . Beats having the bottom of the piston smacking the oil .

Anything can be done with some good welding equipment and an open mind! :D

Just use cast-off nascar stuff to add a pump and lines

Here are some links that I found:

A little pricey maybe for a somplete kit, but as has been suggested - use the stock oil pump as the pressure pump, and only a scavenge system needs to be figured out to drain the oil from the sump and put it in the top of the reservoir. The reservoir should be a tall small diameter tank, which is connected slighly above the bottom to the pressure pump, and have a drain on the bottom. The scavenger pump will often be sucking air, and the oil needs to be able to settle in the tank. An oil cooler between the scavenger pump and the oil reservoir would not hurt either.

Thank you for the interest in this subject.
