Just got my M5R2 today at my local PullaPart $65.00 plus core. May be a good trans as is, (full of good clean fluid) but I will probably open it up to inspect it anyway. My question is... there looks like there is a provision for a throwout fork in the lower left part of the bellhousing. Im guessing some applications of this trans used an external slave cly???? If so what parts from what veh does it take to convert to external slave if possible?

That's just an inspection window. Replace the 3 rubber plugs at the rear of the shift plate with 3 metal plugs dorman # 555-108. Also, the factory rubber shifter pivot seats are usually toast along with the shifter seal. These are usually sold on ebay in a kit for around $30. That seal is spendy, but should be replaced if it's cracked.

Thanks Dustin, I knew you would be the one that would be in the know. And yes I had planed on replacing the 3 rubber plugs and shifter seal. Good advice from earlier post.
