I just went to order a gasket set from Fel Pro, less the head gasket, will get a Cummins head gasket when I need it for my ‘97 6bt, since they are purported to be better.

Turns out Fel Pro only sell a complete set which would include a head gasket. Is there a better way to go, or the Fel Pro ones as good now?

Ed, that is sort of a hit and miss area. Here's a video you might want to watch. In general, they are equal in quality. Every once in a while there are some of these el cheapo gaskets that show up and those are purely junk. This guy has shown some of those too. That's one of the reasons most try to stay with the genuine Cummins part but as he mentioned, Felpro is one of the suppliers of the Cummins part. This video was 9 years ago so not telling what may be true about them now. This gives you some of the thing to look for.
