Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you have ever removed your oil filter without running your motor for a little while beforehand, and were surprised to find your filter mostly empty of oil. I sure was surprised to find this myself, since they're supposed to have an anti drainback valve, and the filter sits with the opening on top. ( not like some of the tractors at work with their filters upside down.) I'm currently running a donaldson blue on my 96 cummins. Anyway, that drainback is something I really want to eliminate, since it's now winter, and the time before getting oil pressure is even longer. Especially when it's -13 out like this morning. Even with 5/40 synthetic, it takes a bit to fill that filter up every time I start it.

Thanks for any info.

If no one knows, my next filter will be fleetguard, or cummins filtration, and i'll post back what I find if anyone else is interested.
