Is there a difference in the flexplate from a first and second generation Dodge? Are they interchangable?

All first gen trans, engine adapter, clutch, flywheel, bellhousing are made to stay to gether ,so no mix matching of parts .1st ,2nd,3rd .the difference in the thickness of the engine adapters is because they added lock up TC and overdrive in 94 up.

Hope this helps.

I think they do interchange from what I have read. The 1st Gen. guys use the the 2nd gen. flexplate as it is heavy duty. Order from the Cummins dealer, much cheaper than Dodge.

They will bolt up but what I was saying is the engine adapters are different thickness , so you wouldn't mix the 1st gen adapter with 2nd gen bellhousing or flywheel .The second gen parts will bolt on to the 1st gen engines .
