Anyone got a good recomendation for a muffler? Ebay pops up some generic ones and magnaflow, and a company called Aero. i'm looking in the 4" flavor. there are also flowmaster and other brands with 4" options.

what's everyone using?

I think i'm going to want something...I'm running 4" tubing downpipe back.

No Aero turbine or whatever they are, they don't sound as good as say a MBRP, and they create a lot of cabin noise. At least that was my observation... I'm running 4" from the turbo back, no muffler and I havent been pulled over yet...

the Aero Turbines are expensive... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford...tegoryZ33636QQihZ015QQitemZ250113731575QQrdZ1

that's compared to the MBRP's and Magnaflows.

There is a chambered 4" magnaflow or flowmaster (can't remember) that looks good to me...

Here is another one I was interested in.. 4" but claims it is fairly quiet...

Here are links to the 4" flowmasters and magnaflows I found that are 4" chambered.. I ran a straight-through muffler 3" last time.. Not deafening but pretty loud I found, too loud for me. I figured the chambered is better than a straight pipe as far as sound...

4" Chambered...

Here are pics of the different chambered mufflers..

Some other shorter chambered Flowmaster 3.5 and 3" mufflers...

And an expensive magnaflow that I would probably never buy..

I did some research one TDR mostly about people using chambered mufflers with diesels and a few guys said they are running them and they are fine. Some soot will buildup in side but nothing too bad I figure as long as your 4BT is not bombed or similar..

i wonder how chambered mufflers sound on a diesel. I also have to figure out if i can fit an oval case muffler vs the round case. the round case seems a bit easier, but i haven't gotten that far.

it'd be cool to hear a comparison of chambered vs. straightthrough

hmm they don't have any 4" in/out mufflers that i could find.

I'm going to straight pipe it for now, as long as i am 100% legal i don't think i will worry about it being quiet for now. I was set on getting a donaldson muffler, they are supposed to flow pretty well an be quiet. they are pretty big though. I think i will hold off for now, if straight is too loud i'll do something about it.
