I'm attempting to find out the CPL on my 4BT so I can purchase a rebuild kit. Every data plate on the motor is gone, but here's what I know. It was in a bread truck, early 90s, and is a VE motor. Here's a picture. I can find the following numbers on top of the pump: 1 465 530 724 and 13815. If there's something else you all need to figure it out let me know. Thanks for any help.

There will be numbers on the right side of the VE pump (as you face the front of the engine). Provide us these and we might be able to help. See picture below for illustration:

My air pump is right in the way and I couldn't get my phone to focus good to get a picture, but with a mirror and flashlight here's the numbers I think I have. On the top of the plate: 77703. On bottom of it: 460-424-027. Hopefully this helps. Thanks.

I'm sorry but it does not. Try to take a rubbing as the numbers will be stamped in.

I got the motor out yesterday and was able to get a better look at things with the pump off. Here is a picture of the plate on my pump. The numbers are top to bottom: 77703, VE4-R-230-1, 0 460 424 027, and just below the plate is stamped 3908191. Thanks,

Justin

Interestingly I found a complete diagram for that Bosch part # 0 460 424 035 but find no references for the Cummins part 3909593. Can you post a photo of that ID plate? That Bosch part references pump number VE4/12F1100R226-5.

Goat, 3909592 is a valid Cummins number. That is Bosch part 0 460 424 033 pump model VE4/12F1050R230-3. Still doesn't match the other numbers he has. I looked through 89 pages of VE pumps and didn't find a one with an RV520 on the end. This thing is kind of a mystery.

Yes, I know. However, 3909593 is also a valid number.

Both of those are supercession, Phase II, pumps assigned to CPL 594. That's why you won't find any information on them. They were part of a field fix for surging loaded at idle. Cummins didn't require an injector change so the CPL remains unchanged, unlike the road versions.

It's an industrial engine, 107hp @ 2100, 295ft-lb @ 1700. 1.55mm timing.
9592 is 12v, 9593 is 24v.

It is 390 9592 and Thanks you for posting on the engine... was i correct in reading the bearing as it being an 1986 or 1987 engine year?

( ps my internet is real wonky so I'm not getting replies.. to me.. sorry the response took so long.. thanks)

Knowing engine year won't help you. A engine serial number is the biggest asset, but it will also be hard to find since you need one from the early years where not many of those where produced. I don't have a ESN for a CPL 594 so I can't be of much help there.

Sorry to bother i found an old post of yours on a RSV being a strict governed pump. ( "I suspected it was an RSV governor. That one has a device locking the governor for 1800 rpm. May have different springs to prevent it from revving over 2175 rpm. " Feb 7 2016). with major changes to make it Vehicle worthy.. is it possible my pump has that type of governor and that is what the RV is ????? ( yes I can be pesky when I lean in and learn something new... thanks for putting up with this old guy)
