Have anyone got information on how a Hino J05C-TD runs and how it compares to the bunch (to Isuzus' and Cummins')? All I know that they'r 5.3L in size, ~160hp/~330lb-ft in figures but do not know if they're reliable, can be hopped up to more than double the power, they sip less fuel, etc...

I am thinking to swap it into a 4x2 OBS Ford F350 SRW Regular Cab and 8' bed. Trans will be an Isuzu MXA-6S (it got a tall, 0.62 sixth gear as a double overdrive).

I haven't had a lot of dealings with the hino brand, But I have noticed a lot more of their vehicles on the road recently.

j05c-td is the slightly more horsepower rating of 170hp as it should be intercooled if turboed.

By the look of what I have looked at, they run a similar pump to a P-pump like on some cummins But I actually seem to remember denso springs to mind so not sure if it be easy to turn up the fuel easily.

I think the only way to find out is to experiment and go for the swap.

On paper, it looks a good engine. the ONLY weight I seem to be able to find is 450-500kg which is a pretty heavy engine
