Can someone please explain how this could happen to a bone stock truck, towing a small trailer. The truck was in perfect running condition, was building good boost. Was going up a small hill and heard a small pop followed by a big pop. I saw shards of metal flying out from under the hood, I just have never seen a stock turbo fail in this way.

How many miles does it have oil in it? Lots of things could have caused it blocked oil line low oil not letting turbo cool before shut down plugged air filter etc. Finding it this way sucks. Wish I could just say it was ---- but cant..

That is a picture of the damage!! The inlet cone of the turbo is blown completely off, and the demolished compressor wheel is visible just slightly to the right of the center of the picture. What size Powerstroke was it?
