Got to looking at my motor as the time is drawing near for it to be put in. It has a HX30 turbo. Not sure whether to be excited or concerned.....I have not heard of this one before.

Anyone had any experience with one? Are they capable of more flow than the H1? Never thought to look at the turbo model.......assumed it was an H1

Thanks
Austin

I have looked at this turbo as a possible upgrade. Holset website says they are used for application up to 5 litres. I would think it would be quik spooling and you could fool with the wastegate to get more psi if needed. JMO.

There is two main types of hx30's used in the 4bt's. One has a larger compressor wheel with a shrouded housing. The hx30 builds boost down low real fast, but chokes at higher rpm's and flow rates. You can build 25psi by 1800rpm, But they seem to overboost for a given load. Running a hx30 at 2300rpm's, 29psi, felt like my engine had 20% less power then a hy35 at the same load, 20psi.
