Okay, I recently purchased an Hx30 that had a good deal of shaft-play, and in separating the housings, the v-band lip on the exhaust housing side of the CHRA was chipped in several places. So I am in the market for a new CHRA. Ebay shows several aftermarket options but I have seen both good and bad posts on here about the Chinese turbos. This is to be the small turbo in my hx30/35 compound build. I am wondering where I can find a genuine holset CHRA or if anyone has had a good experience with the Chinese turbos.(as i am assuming they are Chinese). Also I have the 6cm exhaust housing and have seen multiple different diameter compressor and turbine wheels on eBay CHRAs but none match my measurements exactly. Can I go smaller and not hurt performance? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Best bet is to call Holset customer service with the numbers off your HX30W tag and ask for the proper Holset p/n for the CHRA specific to that turbo. For the price, I'd roll the dice on a Ch'olset HX30W CHRA, but genuine Holset mid-sections are not terribly over priced. 6,7,8,12cm housings are mentioned for the HX30W in earlier posts over the last 4 years or so, but everyone seems to only end up with the 6cm. Your 6cm is standard on the 4BTAA and will work fine for what you have planned.

Here's some HX30W tag # -to- CHRA p/n cross references;

Well no luck on eBay or turbo international. I called today for pricing on the CHRA as I will need a complete replacement for the one I broke separating it from the exhaust housing, only to find out they no longer carry them with my part number... Is there any chance a different part number will work with my compressor and turbine housings? If so how would I match them up? I noticed in the turbomaster link above that there are subcategories for the hx30w with several in each, are they interchangeable? My turbo number is 3533125 thanks again!

Your Holset turbocharger p/n 3353125 calls for the same CHRA (Holset p/n 3537839) as the following Holset Turbochargers;

3533126
3533128
3538105
3538106
3538981
3538982
3539334
3539335
3590124
3590125
3590126
3590135
3590136

I'd be very surprised if you can't find a genuine Holset or Chinese CHRA that fits any of these. Did you speak with Holset Customer service directly ? If so, ask to speak with their Tech desk so you can get a cross-reference p/n for a CHRA that will fit, or the new p/n that superceded the old. Holset is owned by Cummins now, so they may change part numbers on the same exact part everytime the wind blows.

My hx30w had been "rebuilt" by the previous owner who decided it would be best to run an aftermarket cartridge.. so far, I have not had any issues out of it and it has seen 40psi from my compound setup multiple times... and 30-35psi on a regular basis.

I certainly wouldn't mind finding a legit Holset center section to build though.. for piece of mind.

Yeah that's where I am in this, I'm after the peace of mindia as well. It seems like the cartridge that would be identical to my broken one is no longer carried by turbo international, I think I may just order a Chinese cartridge and swap out the compressor and turbine from my old Holset cartridge, assuming that would work. I'm very green to turbos, but it seems like a viable solution to me. Any thoughts?
