I work in the emergency power generation field. We have a customer with a P pump with cracked plungers. has anybody seen this from normal hours/wear and tear. 1200 hours

Is this one of those that goes from cold to full load in short order. Any possibility of any water in the fuel. Also vibration could play into this. Are all the barrels broken.

no just the one and our rebuild shop only gets parts from bosch and the plungers arent available

iirc the barrels and plungers are a matched set. if it's just the one then maybe something hit it externally or there was a temporary blockage and it hydraulic locked. kinda a stretch but a thought. the parts are hardened I believe so it could be a flaw or stress riser in the material, or it just happened.
