Greetings folks, working on a junk yard special I’m trying to rebuilding for future project. Bottom cylinder liner has some pitting close to the top angled lip, not on the top of liner itself.

Run it or replace it? Thanks in advance.

Head came from ADV cylinder heads, was sold as a completely assembled new head casting. Ordering straight from them saved a couple of bucks and still got free shipping.

After 72hrs of no communication, I called for an update and they suggested they were waiting for parts from Isuzu. So, hopefully it’s a decent product.

However initial attempt to slide head bolts in found a blockage in one of the holes, closer inspection found an extra freeze plug lodged halfway between a passage from the head bolt hole to a coolant passage(?). The one that was supposed to be there was there too.

Hoping that’s the only snafu.

Looks like it is coming together real nice and some great pictures by the way! I kick myself for selling FJ62 about 8 years ago by the way !

Thank you! Trying my best over here to put together a quality power plant for the 60 and a decent thread for whomever stops by to check it out.

About the 62 you sold, hindsight is always 20/20 isn’t it? Hopefully the sale served it’s purpose at the time… maybe you build another? :)

Dropping these items off for some TLC next.

Rocker arm shaft measures within spec (>18.85mm), but there is some visible wear on the mating surfaces. You can feel the groves.

I’ll check availability of a new one. But wanted to ask: is smooth, remeasure and run a viable option?

Where are you having your pump rebuilt at? Nobody around Montana will touch an Isuzu pump!

Hmm. That’s a bummer, wonder what their reasoning is…

Local to me, came well recommended by the couple truck/heavy equipment repair shops in town.

Hoping it works out.

Fun weekend. Rear main seal, tap tap tap with a bronze punch. Next one I’ll find a suitable pvc fitting or something.

Got the head bolts torqued, for final torque I used a sharpie to mark a socket and cylinder head at the prescribed angle (ignore reference to 90*).

I guess I’ll find out, parts guy hasn’t gotten back to me with a replacement option. So, took the shaft to a machine machine shop and they chucked it in a lathe hit it with some Emory cloth and made it pretty again. Arm bushings and shaft still within tolerances.

Put the assembly together and installed it along with push rods, tappet covers and cylinder head cover.
