Subject sort of says it all...

If anyone has a "good idea" on a mount and wants to see what they look like, use this site. But you have to know the application or part number:

I've been reading up in the "show off your mounts" section and there are a couple neat options. But I am wondering if anyone found a good "proven" option for 4BTs and similar engines that is still liquid. Or, a solid engine mount and that really does a good job of isolating vibration? I am personally not overly anal (and I used solid mounts two times ago and they were fine). But I have seen the 4BTs on their stock mounts really rattling away, it is night and day and is smoother inside the cabin... I used the stock 4BT liquid filled mounts this last time (if anyone has a set for sale, PM me I'm looking for a spare!) but we're doing an Isuzu swap right now and have not made up our mind on which mount to use. From the show off your mounts thread this popped up (see image attached below):

We were in the junk yard today and found these on a Ford Taurus 1993 front wheel drive. Ford taurus' are killer suppliers of all sorts of usable parts. We pulled a fan (the famous Ford Taurus fan), a relay block with 10 maxi-fuses for distributing power, and some sealed/weather proof 30 amp relays / harnesses. In all a good day. I'm not sure these would hold up to the weight of a 4BT?

EDIT: OK I started looking it up and there are about 8 different similar Ford Taurus liquid filled mounts.. Unreal...

This came up in the search too. Not sure what the difference is between this and the previous Taurus mount. Looks a hair smaller than the OEM Cummins mount but I think these might work???

EDIT ON FURTHER DISCUSSION THESE ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE MOUNTS....

I don't think these would hold the weight??

Late 80's Volvo 4 cyl gas, liquid filled. I was thinking two a side might work but would be ugly and take up space... And they are expensive...

I have had really good luck with this mount. Vibration is very low and handel the weight very well. Easy mount to fab for a good heavy chunk of angle iron works well for the perch and also aids in boxing the frame rails.
And which one of these? I posted two mounts there... I called on the price. The D103 which would probably be the best application is $43 from these guys. The cushier M102 is $75 each.. Definetely expensive. They are designed for 4 point weights so you take the total weight and divide by 3 or 4, however many mounts you have, in my case 3...

Andre,
I used 4 1997 - 2003 Chevy Venture front engine mounts on my Caterpillar powered Chevy Dually. That engine with accessories weighs over 1200 lbs. I used one on each corner. They are liquid filled, and are very good vibration isolators. I am going to use them on my next 4BT swap. Im not sure yet if I am going to use 2 or 4. They are about $45-$50 depending where you get them. 2 of them developed leaks and had to be replaced during the 500,000 miles that the engine has been in the truck. By the way, those Volvo mounts are way to weak for a 4BT application even if you use 4. I have them on my Volvo 940 turbo. They are a common failure item on a stock Volvo. I think you'd need 2 on each corner of a 4BT.:(

By the way, how do you copy a picture to a post. I'll post a picture of the mount if I can figure that out.

Here is the picture:

They are about 7 inches long, and about 2.5 inches thick, and about 3 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.

Motor mounts

I used the DF210. I think this mount was designed to handel about 300 lbs or so. When i ordered mine i talked to an applications guy and he said i would be fine with 2 mounts and the tranny mount. To date i have a little more than
3000 miles on my truck and the mounts are doing very well. My convershion is an 85 GMC half ton. If you know that truck it is an open channel frame and is not very strong at all. I used a 3/8x3x6 angle to make the perch for the mount and used the 6inch web of the angle to box the frame only at the motor mount locations. So far it is great no issues at all. Vibration is the same as a first gen dodge. It is there but very tolorable.

cool.. I have tried that too but not had much luck.. I will try again, thanks guys..

We ordered up the Ford mounts for the Isuzu. It is a little lighter than a 4BT and I think it should hold up well. The inline 6 4.9L Fords are big and heavy so I think they'll be a good application... Will keep you guys posted, we should have the mounts fabbed and in place shortly...

I think I am also going to delete the references to the Volvo mounts, I agree too weak...
