Hi All,
I am in the process of modifying my 1994 YJ Jeep to accept a 4BT / TH400 combination.
I understand that the typical stock TH400 torque converter stalls around 1800-2000 rpm.
In various threads TH400 users have stated that a lower stall speed is desired for the 4BT.
The rule of thumb I use is that the stall speed should be approx 300 to 500 rpm below the peak torque point on the power curve.
In this case it would equate to a 1300 rpm stall speed to match the 4BT.
Can anyone refer me to a manufacturer of TH400 torque converters who offer a low stall speed version.
Anything between 1200 and 1400 should work.
I have contacted PTAC and B&M so far but they have nothing to offer.
cheers,
veggie
