OK I added oil & even filled up the oil filter w/ oil , plugged in the oil pres gauge & started cranking, no oil pressure. Do these motors produce pressure @ cranking speeds ? Does anybody know ? I'm trying to think of a way to prime the motor but don't know yet. Motor is pretty old & hasn't been run in over 3 years. I wanted oil pressure before adding fuel. I also took out the injectors so it would crank faster/easier too. Any ideas ? Thanx in advance.

I noticed just last week on two of my trucks with 6BT's the oil light stays on anywhere from 3 to 5 seconds if the truck was not run the previous day. These engines have a long pickup tube that runs from the oil pump to the pick up screen in the oil pan. Probably not a good idea to keep on cranking it.

use a seperate oil tank and pump-blow oil in through the oil pressure fitting like you do with a brand new engine before first fire up
