I have a 4BD1-T, and i'm having trouble with my power steering pump. I took it off and disassembled it, but everything inside looks good. When I connect the lines and run the engine, however, there is just a small stream of aerated p/s fluid that exits the output slowly, nothing else.

I want to say that the p/s fluid is bypassing the pump somehow and just trickling out due to gravity. Is this possible? Can anyone help?

I think mine will pass fluid when it's not running. But clean fluid, aerated may mean the supply is blocked.

Some pumps can take a bit more to properly bleed, so it could be cavitation in the pump because all the air hasn't been purged?

That's what it was. I had to force fluid into the pump with a little pressure (it wouldn't go in just with gravity).

Good thing too, I just drove it 250 miles!

Thanks guys.
