still have the original 4:10 diff ,What would be the best approach for a Diesel
Conversion

looking for fuel efficiency and simplicity , wonder if 4BT & 6BT engines would
work, not sure of auto / or std approach to transmission

You can find plenty of info on the F250 and probably alot on the Ranger too if you look through the forum.

One option you might want to look into for the Ranger, if you're going for mpg, is the old 2.2 liter Mazda/Perkins motor that Ford had as an option starting back in '83. I don't know anything bout them cept it was avaliable, so it might be worthless or might be great. Just an idea.
