I'll be doing a 4bt swap in the spring if all goes as planned.

I have the motor i will be using sitting on a crate in my garage, any known things i should do between now and the spring?

The motor is a cummins reman. from '01 so i imagine most everything is good but just wanted to check.

Here's the stuff I'm thinking of doing with mine once it's out..

Go ahead and cure the KDP (Killer Dowel Pin) and tighten up / loctite the bolts for the timing case:

If you're thinking about painting it, now's the time.

Any leaks on it that you know of? Might easier to fix those out of truck. And some seals I'd do "just because".. Rear main comes to mind on that count. (You'll have already done the front to address the KDP.)

Also, if you're going to be adding / changing anything as far as gauges go (such as the pyrometer we ALL need to have..), might be a good idea to figure out sender locations, etc out of the truck. Especially when things need to have a drill applied..

And another thing..

Take the oil pan off, have a look-see inside. Better / easier to address a thrust bearing or broken piston cooler now..
