Hi - I have an excavator that I am working on. It is a Mitsubishi MM55SR (similar to CAT 305) that originally had a Mitsubishi K4N. Previous owners blew the engine, had a mechanic working on it, parts got misplaced/lost, and basically they didn't have the original engine. Since the K4N is such an old engine and hard to find, I am looking for suggestions on a different motor to swap in. I had been looking at the Mitsubishi S4Q2 or S4L2 but I talked with someone and they said they thought maybe an S4S engine might be better since its a previous version and they said its more mechanical. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Yanmar 4TNE84 is the same HP and very prolific. They were used in all sorts of offroad machines. They're very solid, parts are cheap.
