Don't know yet havn't got it running yet.Putting the motor and trany in the truck tomorrow.

Where is the best place to put the TCM and the BCM.Howards puts the TCM mounted to the side of the trany that deffently uses alot of less wire.If it isn't going to hurt them I have the room there to mount them on the allison.

When I talked to Howard he said he quit mounting it there. He said it leaves it too vulnerable to water spray and such. I plan on running my harness straight up through the floor board and mounting the TCM under the passenger seat.

I was thinking of putting them under the center consol.I have a power booster for my radio do you think it would cause a problem to mount above it.are to much heat or interfearance.did you have time to check on the wireing if not not a problem.I got the Motor and trany all in last night. It isn't like I don't have enough to do before the wireing.Talk to a freind that does the tunning with EFI we,re going to use the dial switch for different tunes to see witch ones work the best It's easier than loading and unloading them.I know I'm going alittle extreme by going with the dial.Thank Max for all your help.I'm getting eccited more every day I get closser getting it going.

I got my Dodge to SAE #3 adapter ring yesterday. Now I just need to make a flexplate assembly and I'm good to go :D

ok here goes first time reply, ill keep it simple to start. i have a 1995 international lo profile, short wheel base 12 ft. an allison auto 4 spd w o/d. I want to install a 4 bt. Why because 1 iam not going to be doing any heavy loads or towing. and i want it to be more ecenomical. yes its less than 26 gvw. is there a conversion or do i have to change trans

Max glad your back on your prodject.

A while back I inquired about using a later model extension housing on an '04 see #22. It seems to bolt on no problem, however my trans is most likely MD as it was in a Workhorse chassis (3.9L ISBe 170). I'm a bit concerned with the size (surface area) of the C5 piston in the 4wd housing vs. the 2wd. The 2wd has quite a lot larger area. Can this be compensated for with programming and or solenoid change? If the answer is no I was considering putting the 4wd ext. hsg. in a CNC mill and machining to accept an adapter ring so I can use the 2wd C5 piston.

Thanks,
Bill

Huh? Post pics. Every 2wd and 4wd housing i have seen uses the same piston.

engine conversition 7.3 to 4bt

i have 1995 international 4700 lo profile, has the 7.3 diesel n the allison auto. 4spd w o/d,
i want to convert motor to 3.9 4 bt . so starting research for most affordable way.
it is the really short wheel base for the chemical sprayer , so it has about a 12 ft. bed. n it is the lo pro that sit really low.
i wont be doing any heavy loading or towing.
it is less than 26 gvw.
i just like the truck, n i want to make it get better miledge.

then i want to convert fuel to lpg / propane
to get a better price per gallon on fuel

dont have alot of money but this will be my project

thanks Sandblaster / Eddie

ok wow, i have been aknowledged thanks 2WD Puller / Dale.
but still no advice, ill keep reading lots of info.
Please start your own thread to ask your questions rather than hijacking a thread about a completely different transmission. I or others will answer your questions, but we don't want to clutter up this thread with unrelated swap questions.

Interesting? What year transmissions are these tailhousings from? I have 2wd and 4wd housings from an 06 and 07 respectively, and they are identical internally.

In any case, C5 is only used for first gear and only gets shifted out on the 1-2 upshift and 2-1 downshift. I'm not 100% sure, but I would guess that if you have someone with a Tech 2 or Allison DOC software reset the taps and put the TCM in fast learn mode it will probably adapt to the difference in area just fine.

Apparently the extension housings got changed between the 5speed and 6 speed designs. Anyway, like I said I don't think it will be a problem.

any of you guys have luck getting everything working correctly??? i ve been watching this thread awhile now havent seen bronco70 in a while... supersonic seems to have his working.... id really like to do an allison in a 04 superduty cummins swap i will be getting started on but seems like a real pain to get figured out

I was kinda curious of the same, my '99 Cummins Ram is begging for an allison swap, but want to make sure that someone else has got most of the bugs figured out before I delve into it. I have been a trailblazer MANY times on other automotive projects and want something to go relatively trouble free this time!!!
