Hello from Indonesia

Currently I work on a Cummins 6B-5.9 industrial. I get difficulty on finding timing on the Bosch VE injection pump. The industrial model does not have drive key, although it retains the gap for it both on the shaft and the pump gear. In my country no one sell timing tool for this engine. We contact an authorized Cummins service center for the tool and they quote us a crazy price, around 880$. I googling around, while I can't find timing tool specifically made for Cummins 6 B engine, I found timing tool adapter that made for VW's VE fuel pump on Amazon.

Is that adapter supposed to work with generic dial gauge such as the one in the attachment?

Can I use those tool to find the correct timing of industrial Cummins B engine? Also in the attachment the photos of the engine and the pump.

Looks to me that your engine should have a key, and that is the timing tool it is used with a standard dial indicator.
I also have an industrial 4bt and it has a key in it.
