Anyone had dealings with SKP boosters?
Have had 2 Cardone rebuilt units fail in less than a year so looking at new.
Both SKP and Cardone offer new units.

Have thought about that but would have to get the change engineered, Aus is a bit like that to remain a legal vehicle.
Opened up the first failed unit and may have sorted it, at least I now have power brakes again. Will open the other one up later and see what it's problem is.

Wouldn't think going to hydroboost would be a concern but government guys can have strange ideas. Many modern vehicles are hydroboost. You're just replacing a booster driven by vacuum with one driven by a hydraulic pump, namely the power steering pump. Those systems started to crop up in the '60's and became very common by the '80's. Just have to be sure your power steering reservoir has 2 return lines as a single can cause brakes to hang on. Manufacturers soon found that having both returns merged into one was not the best idea.

Yep. Any modifying, particularly the braking system has to be engineered. Right pain at times.
Agree it should not be a problem to install and I do have a 2 inlet pump can so that side would not be an issue.
The current vac booster is the larger one off a later Ford and works well. Looked like at the "rebuild" they left some grit in the seal on the piston and scratched the shaft. Piston is Bakerlite and scores easily. Just polished the scratches out of the piston and no more leaking of air into the system.

Yes, cleanliness is all important, especially in braking systems. On the hydroboost units it is important to have a line filter in place or one built into the pump or even both to prevent any contamination.
