The 4x4 club I belong to had it's 6th annual run to Mingus mt. last weekend. I had previously reduced the timing from about .1 to .125 as measured on the timing case to 1.45 mm useing the offical method on the pump. What a difference in EGT! I'm towing a small popup tent trailer with gear, the wife:) :) ,+100 F ambient temp, maybe 750 lbs and a weekends worth of beer:eek: , I had to use the 1000 deg f (down stream) mark as a opposed to 900 F that I used previously for backing down. EGT wanted to go to 1200F. At the previous timing settings I only had to down shift to 4th occasionally. This trip I was forced to use 3rd, but it did it on the governer, +18 lbs boost. Didn't use a drop of oil. These little Diesesl sure take a beating and ask for more. The grades were only werent that bad, average 6% some more that that. Untill I can add a WCCAC I'am going back to the more advanced timeing.
what do you think?

Forget to mention, used 13.373 gal for the first 229 miles. That included the climb up there and a day of 4 wheeling. The return trip I used 5.845 gal in 171 miles, 18.6 mpg + 29.35 mpg =avg of 20.92.

You saying you put the wife in the trailer? How'd she like that?:D Are you saying you were seeing 1000 deg post turbo with 1200 pre turbo?
