New here! I am looking for information on a motor rebuild (4bt p pump) i will be doing. The last one i did was a lot of research. So this time i would like to pay for something like a login in app from Cummins that has info on part numbers that interchange. Also has this number on back off block. I read somewhere if Cummins rebuilds they sometimes put the SN number on the back. Just don’t know what i have. I am only finding different part number from what is on the motor. The white tag was on the crate it came on.

OK. The engine serial number stamped on the back of the block 60101190 is a good number for a 4bt. However, that serial number did not come with the P7100 pump that is on there. That engine was a CPL 0858 which had a VE pump and was rebuilt in the Cummins DRM factory in 1996. DRM is Diesel Recon de Mexico. Somewhere along the line that rebuilt engine got joined to the P pump. Who knows when that might have happened. That injection pump is a correct P7100 that would have come on a CPL 1839. It has the correct power steering pump for that one as well. Can't see the turbo side. This isn't such a rare thing. Companies who had fleets of trucks with these engines often repaired one engine with parts they had available. They used a rebuilt short block assembly from one engine and transferred the parts from a P pump engine to it. You would never know this if it weren't for that Recon serial number on the back. Most P pump engines have the STORM block. I suspect this one is an early style block. If you look on the turbo side and it has 2 large freeze plugs then it is an early block. If you want to go into Cummins Quick Serve I can give you a serial number for a CPL 1839. That will show you the original part numbers and any updated numbers. With those numbers you can search online and find OEM parts or aftermarket replacements. I cannot tell you what parts may have been changed in the recon process.

Thanks for replying. I did notice that this stamped serial number had a VE pump witched confused me.
Do you think there is a problem running a P7100?
What is a Storm block?
Could you please provide me a serial number for a CPL 1839

The engine block won't matter which injection pump you put on it. May of 1997 was the approximate date the STORM blocks started. Here's a serial number for a P pump 4bt produced in 1996. 45321244. The main thing you have to pay attention to the the oil filter plate gasket. Also, the water heating element for the 2 styles is totally different should you want to plug up the engine for very cold weather. STORM stands for Straight Thread O Ring Metric. Can you see the ID plate on your turbo. It does have a waste gate so it might be an HX30W. If it is then the cold air intake is 3" as I mentioned earlier. I swear that turbo housing looks bigger than the HX30W but that might a photo imaging thing.
Thanks for the help!! Yes it is a HX30W. However the intake must have been swapped around.
